Case Study

PAGE TITLE

London Pumps was approached by a leading Mechanical & Electrical contractor regarding the supply and installation of a 4 pump variable speed cold water booster set along with a twin pump hydrant booster set.

Both booster sets had to be designed and manufactured to meet the stringent site conditions dictated by the consulting engineer’s specification. Following a series of site meetings with both the consultant and contractor the initial designs had to amended due to the pump room layout negating any potential for the future maintenance of either unit.

Further discussion with consultants and the contractor resulted in the re-positioning of both units and the change of pump type agreed to facilitate the future maintenance, this is now achievable without shutting down either pump set completely and it is now possible to service both sets with no major disruption to the on-site facilities.

Due to limited access on site following the manufacture and in house testing both sets were completely dismantled for the delivery to site.

Our service department provided on site personnel to manoeuvre the sections of both pump sets down through a stairwell which included a tight 90° turn before re-assembly could take place in the designated plant room. Following the re assembly of both sets each unit was again pressure tested ready for commissioning to meet the operating conditions. Subsequent to the installation London Subsequent to the installation London Pumps has been given instructions to carry out the routine maintenance to both pump sets ensuring correct operation of both the pumps and variable speed drives.
